1 - .060" rear/forward clutch selective snap ring. (D121-116 .060)
The Goerend Heavy Duty Bellville spring is.030” thicker than stock for added strength. Our Laser cut, steel spacer is thinner than the plastic stock spacer to keep the waved snap ring in its proper position. The added spring thickness raises the rear/forward clutch pack slightly, so we include the .060” selective snap ring to maintain proper clutch clearance.
The Goerend Bellville spring should only be used with the late style apply piston available here. This is the shorter of the two factory pistons, measuring approximately .780" on the outside edge when set on a flat surface, versus the early piston measuring approximately .840".
We use the Heavy Duty Bellville spring in all of our kits to eliminate the failures commonly seen with the stock springs. They work well with any build, but these are a MUST-HAVE for high performance applications with forward pressures exceeding 200 psi. Any 47RH or early 47RE equipped with the early design Bellville spring and taller piston can be easily upgraded to the Heavy duty setup. Just change the piston to a matching late style piston, or order a Goerend Billet rear/forward clutch piston (D121-107 G .780).
Instructions:Remove the original Belleville spring and plastic spacer. Install New Belleville spring and steel spacer, followed by the original Waved snap ring (not included in kit). Next install the apply plate with the rounded edge towards the Belleville spring, followed be the clutch pack and backing plate. Use the .060 flat snap ring (included) and check clutch clearance, should be (.020”-.036”). A .075” snap ring may be required in some cases.
